weekend brunch at home

we all know brunch is the greatest thing in the world, but
sometimes it's nice to sleep in and eat at home on a
weekend morning. this weekend we found a way to have
amazing brunch while at home...thanks to the coolest
new SF startup, make eat easy. take a look at their
website and your mouth will be watering! it is
basically an online {super fresh} grocery store based off
their great recipes. we did the avant-garde eggs benedict and
now i want to try everything they have to offer! they have other
breakfast meals, dinner items, and of course dessert too.
right now they only deliver in san francisco, but soon they will
expand to the entire bay area. the co-founders are the cutest!!!!
i loved chatting with oriol & roser and can't wait to get
to know them better. we are definitely food soulmates and
i love seeing a company run by such great people.
each meal includes a little instructional booklet
to guide you through the recipe with the ingredients
they've provided. it's so simple + clear.
^^ the meals are delivered in a freezer bag with
an ice pack to ensure everything stays fresh
until you can make your meal!
all the ingredients you need, delivered to you
in exact amount for the recipe. i truly noticed a difference
in the freshness and quality of all the ingredients.
our yummy eggs benedict, in the making!
sf residents-- this great startup just began,
so become one of the people in the know
to start using them-- you won't regret it.
thanks, make eat easy! we loved it!

tuesday ten: costco favorites, part two

happy tuesday, and welcome to another tuesday ten list. we are big fans of costco...i've already done a costco favorites post before hereso here's the second edition. enjoy, and please add your own favorites to it!

1. i love the kirkland natural peanut butter at costco. they have it creamy & chunky,
and it is my favorite...healthy, tastes good, and a perfect size to last for a while.
{tip...store it upside down so the natural oils mix through!}
2. veggie burgers! this was a costco sample win, because we tried these as a sample and loved them...
so we bought them on the spot. they are a good, healthy thing to have on hand in the freezer!
{cute boy not included with purchase}

3. i don't know what these garafalo whole wheat noodles have in them, but i'm addicted. they seriously have the best taste that i end up craving! they are perfect for a healthy whole wheat spaghetti, a chicken and broccoli alfredo dish, a simple butter and parmesan snack, noodle stir fry, and so much more.

4. coconut creme spread. i don't feel like
this one needs a long explanation, the name
alone made my mouth water when i saw it!
it can go on fruit, desserts, be used as
a spread, mmm the options are endless.
we love coconut if you didn't know!
5. i also love the rotisserie chicken- it is SO delicious and tender,
and you can use it all week in different recipes!
6. this size of vanilla lasts me so much longer than the little mini sizes...
so helpful because i use vanilla a lot! it has a great pure taste.
7.  these multigrain tortilla chips are the best. they are healthier than regular chips,
and so good plain// with salsa// with guac// with hummus// etc.
8. this one looks random but it's a lifesaver. i use garlic in so many recipes, and after too many trips to the store just to grab fresh garlic, i just had to buy this. it is so cheap and lasts forever. i was worried i'd notice the difference between fresh garlic, but this honestly adds amazing flavor and makes it SO easy to add a little garlic here and there. just keep it in your fridge and use anytime!
9. i'm pairing these two items into one, because i always get them together. the uncooked tortillas are the bomb. you will never want to buy cooked tortillas again! they come pre-cut into tortilla shapes, but you cook them on the stove and they are hot and freshly cooked! there is a noticeable difference with these. this mexican cheese blend is also perfect for quesadillas, enchiladas, homemade mac & cheese, scrambled eggs, and so many other recipes. it lasts for a long time and is nice to have grated in the fridge to grab when you need it!

10. last but NOT least, these puppies. try one and you'll fall in love. this combines some of our favorite things...dark chocolate? coconut? almonds? too good to be true. just grab a few at a time, and have the best little treat on hand. we LOVE LOVE LOVE these.

 last note:
costco rarely fails me, but it did last week with this:
we are big pad thai fans, but just a tip...don't get it from costco :)

share your favorite costco items if you have any!

tuesday ten: trader joe's favorites

..t r a d e r   j o e ' s..
there is no better place to grocery shop if you ask me.
here are some favorites.. it was hard to choose just 10 with so many things we love there!
1. my first love from trader joe's, and it still lives on today. these are tiny but dangerous!
we eat them by the handful, put them into brownies, blend them into shakes,
pour them straight into our mouth...fight over the last few...you get the idea.
2. joe's o's...a simple, healthier version of cheerios.
we LOVE them with blueberries {and peaches} cut up.
3. best salad dressing, hands down!
4. the best tasting almond milk i have found. we put it in our
green smoothies, and i eat it with cereal & oatmeal!
5. pair these two things with chicken, brown rice, sweet potatoes and carrots. win.
6. you can't go wrong with their yummy granola flavors..the chocolate
almond is more like a dessert than a breakfast though :)
7. i didn't like any type of nuts growing up, but now i'm randomly
obsessed with almonds..and trader's just taste the best! i snack allll day.
8. BEST snack...and these have no salt!
9. same thing as above, but covered in chocolate..these
are dangerous//amazing//i need some now
10. best of all, a trader joe's cookbook to use all of their yummy food in recipes!
another post will have to come soon, there are just too many gems!

tuesday ten: costco favorites

the other day i was strolling through costco, and i saw a lady holding a big $25 jar of coconut oil studying the labels. it was obvious that she was reading about it and deciding if she should get it, and being a BIG fan of coconut oil {see here}... i wanted to yell YES! GET IT! i resisted the urge to be creepy and tell her what to buy, but 10 minutes later when i circled back around and saw her still studying it, i knew she was in need of my costo obsessed guidance and i couldn't resist the urge to make her life happier by introducing her to the favorite item in my kitchen! :) it was a good choice. she was so excited, and asked if you could really substitute it for butter/oil in cookies and all different foods. i told her yes, and as i listed some of my favorite uses for it, a few other ladies gathered around and started grabbing coconut oil too! it was hilarious. i hope all of them are putting it to good use! this made me decide to make a little list of my very favorite costco items.. there are so many more than this, but here are a few to start out. *note: some items may not be available in certain costco locations-- these are all from costco in the bay area!*

costco favorites
1. nature's path granola is always at costco, but this new flavor is my obsession.
pair it with almond milk/ yogurt/ coconut milk/ regular milk and enjoy!

2. best things in the world. the factory for these ice cream cookie sandwiches
is right by us in SF, so they might only be at these locations... but if you live in CA,
hunt these down! they are heavenly and you can get a big box at costco. picture this:
two oatmeal cookies with amazing ice cream in between, covered in the yummiest chocolate.

3. best. snack. ever. i don't love regular trail mix, but i love this.
it has all the good stuff! nothing to pick around like in regular trail mix.
4. multigrain bread. i love both of these brands: kirkland and milton's. you can't go wrong! there are two loaves in the kirkland package, so since it's just two of us i buy them, use one, and freeze the other.

5. couldn't live without costco's spinach and kale. they have HUGE BAGS of them in the produce room, and they are so inexpensive! i get them and use them for salads/ green smoothies/ veggie dishes, then once they are about to lose freshness i freeze the rest for green smoothies! perfect system.

6. this stuff is the best! it lasts for a while, and i put it in everything- pastas,
spread on sandwiches, pizza, and more! it is great on it's own, or in a pesto cream sauce.
a good pasta pairing= the costco ravioli! love all the kinds..they have cheese & spinach stuffed, mushroom stuffed, butternut squash ravioli,
and lots more depending on time of year!

7. cheese! i always have both of these stocked in my fridge: crumbled feta, and amazing shredded parmesan. they both last for months, and i use the feta in every salad, some pastas, quiches etc. i use {lots of} the parm on all my pasta dishes! love them both.

7. i love costco salmon. you can usually get a good deal on the fresh salmon
which i love the most, but they also have frozen fillets if you want more!

8. do i love costco apples because of the case they come in? maybe...
haha i love getting these in bulk, and the gala apples are always so crisp.
little tip, the bag of pears is less than apples, so i switch them out sometimes!

9. these late july sea salt chips are my addiction. they are amazing even on their own,
but pairing them with costco's mango peach salsa doesn't hurt either :)

10. last but not least, get this. it seems expensive, but lasts forever and you can use it in so much! see recipes which use it here and here, and swap it out as a healthy alternative! it can even be used as lotion or in your hait. it is amazing, like you can tell
from the beginning of this post.

what are your costco faves?
