this weekend we got to feature one of our favorite places in san francisco:
we first discovered this place last year with friends, and then this weekend when my
parents were in town we had the chance to come back and review it for the blog!
we got to try the dinner menu, as well as some pies + pie shakes of course.
i had no idea they had such a great, unique dinner menu. the pie shakes are famous, but the savory items are just as good. the owner trevor logan opened green chile kitchen as a restaurant first & then opened this smaller chile pies right down on the corner. we are fans!
one of the highlights was this kale/quinoa salad. it was so fresh with amazing flavor.
the chile cornbread was hard to beat too. this was a perfect starter.
even the guys were fans of the salad!
then, the famous homemade chicken pot pie with green chiles in it.
it was really flavorful with a unique kick...plus, homemade, amazing crust {the best part!}
always fun to have parents in town, we're glad they could join us.
of course we tried the famous frito pie...served in a frito chips bag!
don't let the bag deceive you-this is not junk food! this was chase's favorite.
then..on to the most important part, in my book...the sweets.
the pie shakes are what they are known for, but you can also just get a warm slice of pie with ice cream on the side. that's what my dad did, and he said the bittersweet chocolate ice cream was "the best ice cream he has ever had in his life." direct quote people!
we had some different pies, and of course a pie shake.
it might sound different, but it's one of the best desserts i've had!
they hand mix the shakes, so they are still thick and have great texture.
{think of the best ice cream with pie mixed through...+ parts of the crust, etc. yum!}
don't just take our word for it!
thanks to lauren for working with us to set this up, and for letting us sample so much of the menu! we had a great time and love the laid back environment of this place..plus the amazing food.
if you live in the bay or are visiting soon, add this to your list!
..or, see it on our guide to san francisco here.
