a bonfire on the beach

one of our nights in oregon included a bonfire on the beach. there's nothing better!
you hear the crackling of the fire + the sound of the ocean... pretty heavenly.
the best part was, the producers gathered the cutest local people from cannon beach to come join us...
some we had met during our stay, others were shop owners in town, etc. we all became instant friends
as we sat around the campfire, roasted marshmallows, sang along to the guitar, and sent paper lanterns off into the misty night at the end. such a fun and perfect night spent in cannon beach!
walked just a few steps from our beach house right out onto the sand for the bonfire

cutest local man who told us stories about cannon beach and sang!
one of the best parts of being asked to come to cannon beach to film this show is that my grandma lives right in cannon beach!!! what are the odds? it was so fun to have her at this bonfire, and
i love this picture that was captured during the singing. love you, grandma patty!
after the bonfire, we lit these pretty paper lanterns and sent them into the sky.
writing this post made me miss cannon beach and all of its charm.
we might have to return for another visit soon! happy friday!

  2. What an incredible time! I love the idea of having a bonfire and guitars on the beach. For some reason we never do that in Florida, even though we have plenty of beaches. Maybe it's just too hot for most of the year lol.

  4. What a cool experience! We used to have bonfires every weekend back home - at least this time of year anyway. I love that feeling of sitting around them with good friends, maybe having a drink or two. Perfection!

  12. What a beautiful evening! You know, I'm embarrassed to admit this, but I live in Northern California and I've never even been to Oregon. *What?????* I know! Washington, Arizona, Nevada, even Idaho - yeah. But Oregon? Nope. I really want to visit, though! I'm thinking Portland. Where would you recommend for my first trip?

  14. What amazing pictures- I had no idea the Oregon coast was so beautiful! And the bonfire looks amazing, too- here in London I have people ask me about smores all the time, I'll have to send them to this post for some aspirational pictures on the subject ;) x

  16. I LOVED this post. Last year, my family rented a house on the Oregon coast (in Seaside, so close to Cannon Beach) for Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is huge in my family, and last year we lost my Aunt to cancer, so we decided to rent a house an all spend 5 days together as a family, because she would have loved that. One night, we also released the Thai Paper Lanterns in memory of my Aunt. It will forever be one of the best memories I have. I loved reading this post today because it made me think of my aunt and reminded me of that special week on the Oregon Coast last year. xo
