in a smaller bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract well.
pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and fold together until well combined...make sure that there's no flour or powder left behind. use a small spoon to ladle batter into the greased doughnut pan {fill about 2/3 full}.
bake doughnuts for 11-12 minutes or until a knife inserted into one of the doughnuts comes out clean. remove from oven, and let doughnuts completely cool.

to make the glaze, whisk together powdered sugar, cocoa powder, and salt. add 2 tablespoons of milk and all of the vanilla extract...whisk to combine. if the mixture seems thick, add milk, a tablespoon at a time, until the glaze is thick but pourable and shiny.
dip each doughnut into the chocolate glaze. shake off some of the excess glaze and sprinkle, then let cool while frosting sets on doughnuts. lick your fingers and enjoy!!
