this weekend i came home and drove down to st. george with my family to run the st. george marathon. no, i hadn't trained, and yes, we took it easy, but it was my mom's 20th st. george marathon...so we all wanted to do it with her! my whole family ran it, so it was the best. we just missed chase, who had to stay in california and work..luckily he loves google so it's okay! cheers to my amazing mom for running her 20th st. george marathon, and 40th overall marathon! not sure how i am related to such an amazing person!
prep the night before-- had to lay everything out since we were getting up at 4:30 am!
my cute cousin lives in st. george and had us over for a carb-load dinner the night before..
loved these cute drinks she had for us! we needed all the energy we could get.
along the route with mom-- we ran all 26.2 miles together!
a selfie for chase--he tracked and texted me the entire way,
couldn't have done it without him.
just a taste of the most beautiful marathon course...look at all the
different colors of the sky at different times of the race.
just got the race pics and took a few screen shots while we decide which ones to buy..
i'm so glad they captured my mama and i running together in our matching tops!
a family that runs together, stays together!
^^^ reward ^^^
matching sissy-in-law and mom
rewards included the massage, a nap + shower, and a stop at the famous swig.
this picture says it all. i think i ate 3 of those.
{they are a m a z i n g}
loved seeing my mom accept her 20 year t-shirt and award!
what an accomplishment.
and one more reward provided by the race-- yes please!
wearing the race shirt the day after the race- it's tradition.
...got home late last night to the cutest husband.
since he couldn't be at the race, he had a surprise waiting.
i picked a winner!
xo
Wow! Your mom and you are amazing! Way to go!
ReplyDeleteshe is the amazing one! thanks dear!
Deletewow major props to your mom and you! running a marathon without any training?? yeah someday i'll do that too.... (NOT).
ReplyDeletei've cheered other people on that were running that same marathon...does that count? ;)
haha is it props, or craziness?
Deletecheering can be just as exhausting, finding the route and watching for your people..haha so i say it counts! xo
That is amazing! Tell your mom congrats from me too! Love that you did it as a family... hello, how did that feel untrained? Were you sore after? Someday I'll have to run that one!

That is so awesome! What an accomplishment for your mom! Also, I can't imagine running 26.2 miles without training. Marathons require so much mental training I feel like. haha Way to go girl!
ReplyDeletehaha yes they are SO mental...that's why it was nice i had my mom next to me the entire time to distract me!

So awesome!!:)
ReplyDeleteomg you run marathons as a family! that is amazing, very impressive!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWay to go, darlin'!!! That is impressive! I'm 100% positive I wouldn't have been able to complete all 26 miles if I hadn't trained. Hell, I probably wouldn't have been able to do it even WITH training! But I do agree - a family that runs together stays together. Everyone in my family {except for my mom} runs together once a year - either a 10K or a half marathon, and I LOVE it!
