on a bicycle built for two

over the long weekend we had our friends in town,
and we spent all of saturday showing them the city
the best way possible-- on bikes. we rented tandems
through the bike hut because we heard about their
amazing cause and wanted to highlight them!
they are not just a bike shop, they are a resource for
local cyclists and a skills training program for kids
from low income communities...which is right up
our alley with our teach for america ties. it is so
great, they are funded to have these kids come
and work at the bike shop to gain job experience
and learn skills. anyone can come here and learn
how to repair their own bike along with renting.
as if that isn't enough, the bike hut has also
started working with refugees in the bay
area by giving them free bikes so they have
transportation provided. what an amazing place!
^^ surveying all of his options
we got all set for our bikes,
and headed out for the day!
{only $6 per hour, such a great rate}
such a perfect day to be out and about!
we rented right on the edge of the embarcadero
by the bay bridge, so we followed the embarcadero
down all the way with lots of fun stops.
after the wharf we cute up to take them to
eat lunch at chestnut street, our favorite.
blue barn gourmet is always my choice there!
^^ are you kidding me?
favorite lunch..meg and i ordered well.
a quick stop by the palace of fine arts...
then onto the bridge!
no matter how many times we come here,
it truly never gets old. the bridge it my favorite.
what a view! riding behind my honey
on a bicycle built for two.
just dancin' in the streets at the wharf
from bridge to bridge...biking under
the bay bridge on our way back.

thanks to michael from the bike hut!
we loved our day on the tandem.
^^ here are a few of the current interns amy + thomas
getting job experience through this great program.

  1. That looks like so much fun - I wonder can a person that doesn't know how to ride a bike ride on a tandem bike?! I love San Fran and it's such a fun way to see the city!!

    1. ahhh you need to try a tandem soon! pretty fun and funny!

  3. What a great business! I love that. It looks like you guys had an awesome day. A bit jealous of your flip flops in January! Not for long though! ;)

  4. Tandem biking is my favorite! My husband and I went on a tandem bike ride along the beach when we were down in southern California last summer. Such fun!

  5. The one time I went to San Fran my dad & I did this. It was such a blast!

  6. Totally going to do this when I visit SF again! How do you take your pictures? They look fabulous :) And such a beautiful day in the bay as well!

    1. yes you must!! you're so nice, i have a canon + my iphone + we use the gopro so just a combo depending on the shot!

  7. This particular innovative technique, which usually we can user profile in a foreseeable future issue, allows for even more penalties based on your own home state. In some expresses, Tx, as an example, ignoring your affirmation letter an individual deliver inside of 30 days provides burial plot penalties. Some sort of $1, 000 very good just by declining to help react to ones letter could be accessed when you learn ones proper rights.Building repairs Gold Coast

  8. Hi Emi! How long was this bike ride? I'm thinking of doing it this coming week! I'd love to take my sibs from Embarcadero to Sausilito. Is that an difficult ride or mostly flat?

    1. hi! how fun, you will love that! there are 1 or 2 hills on the way out but it's mostly flat, and then as you leave sausalito you have a bigger climb out of there but worth it! i'd say from ferry building ---> to sausalito is around 10 miles, not bad and so pretty! you can also take the ferry back across from sausalito with your bikes if you don't want to bike back. if you rent from the bike hut tell michael we sent you! he's the best! XO

leave us some love! ♥♥
